Patricia Beard is vice president of
community relations for WXOR-TV/ 13 Alive, Atlanta’s NBC affiliate.
In this position, she manages public service events and cause-related
marketing campaigns for the station. Patricia is executive producer
of the Emmy Award-winning 13 Alive Community Service Awards, a program
that annually honors outstanding volunteers, and the 13 Alive Holiday
Can-a-thon, Georgia’s largest televised food-raising event.
Patricia is a multi-Emmy Award winner
and founder of the Black Women Film Preservation Project. She was
named WXOR-TV’s first female vice president in 1982. Likewise,
she was featured in USA Today as an Ortho 21st Century Woman, which
designated her as one of the women who can lead America into the
21st century.
Patricia received a bachelor of arts
degree from Spelman College and Georgia State University awarded
her a master’s degree in education. In 2000, she was awarded
a master of arts degree in film and video from Georgia State University.
A native of Waco, Texas, Patricia
is the wife of Jeff Beard and the proud mother of three sons, Edward,
Jeffrey, and Ellis.
