Taylor is a media innovator with a career that spans more than
40 years, beginning with his own teen show at WMBM radio while
still in high school in Miami, Florida. After a successful stint
behind the radio mike, Taylor launched a career in television
broadcasting at Miami’s leading station, WTVJ Channel 4,
where he was a pioneer in black television programming. There,
he hosted and produced the awarding-winning show, Black Is. Taylor
was also acclaimed as a top local and national news correspondent,
covering the bloody Liberty City race riots of the 1960s and 1970s,
as well as various Caribbean stories.
After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1987, Taylor
was offered the opportunity to perform his “first love,”
radio. Within two years, he won honors as Announcer of the Year
at WAOK–AM. Years later, Taylor and his family purchased
and successfully operated a 5,000-watt AM radio station, WPLV,
in West Point, Georgia. He sold the station after six years and
returned to Atlanta.
Taylor thoroughly understands the importance
of giving back to the community. As such, he serves on a half
dozen community boards and volunteers with the Sickle Cell Foundation.
In 2007 he joined Who’s Who Publishing Company as a senior
account executive with the Who’s Who In Black
Atlanta®
publication. Taylor’s sales experience helped to create
record sales for the Atlanta market. Additionally, he assists
the southeast region vice president, Yolanda Reynolds, in the
sales and development of Who’s Who publications in Birmingham,
Alabama; Memphis, Tennessee; and Atlanta, Georgia.
