William “Bill” Dickey To
Pen Foreword for Inaugural
Edition of Who’s Who In Black Phoenix™
Columbus,
Ohio – Who’s Who Publishing Company, the nation’s
largest annual directory publisher targeting the African-American
market, announced today that William “Bill”
Dickey will pen the foreword for the inaugural edition
of Who’s Who In Black Phoenix™.
Dickey is founder of the Bill Dickey Scholarship Association (BDSA),
formerly known as the National Minority Junior Golf Scholarship
Association. The organization’s name was changed to the BDSA
in 2006 in honor of Dickey’s tireless efforts to help young
students pursue higher education. As president emeritus of the BDSA,
Dickey encourages young people to pursue and achieve academic excellence
and qualify for college scholarship through the sport of golf.

Dickey is a life member and eight-time president of Desert Mashie
Golf Club of Phoenix. He also served as area vice president and
president for the Western States Golf Association (WSGA). Since
1984, through his efforts on behalf of the WSGA and as the catalyst
for scores of financial contributions from numerous corporations,
companies, organizations and individuals, Dickey has facilitated
financial assistance of more than $3 million to more than 900 college
and college-bound minority golfers.
Throughout his life, Dickey has received numerous awards in recognition
of his selfless service to others, including the PGA Distinguished
Service Award, the Tiger Woods Foundation Sharing and Caring Award,
and the Martin Luther King “Share the Dream” Award.
He has also been inducted into the WSGA Hall of Fame, the National
Black Golf Hall of Fame, the Arizona Golf Hall of Fame and The African
American Golfers Hall of Fame. Recently, The University of Maryland
Eastern Shore presented him an honorary Doctor of Public Service
degree.
Who’s Who Publishing Company began in Atlanta, Georgia, in
1989 and currently publishes similar annual directories in cities
nationwide. The book will be available at bookstores in the Phoenix
