Darrell McMillan has a background steeped in media having begun his journey in radio as an account executive in St. Louis, Missouri, with KATZ-FM, and moving on to WQXA-FM in York, Pennsylvania, before leaving for television as a senior account executive with Clear Channel’s WHP-TV, a CBS affiliate in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

After six years, McMillan was seduced into the general sales manager position with WTCY-FM The Touch, also of Harrisburg. Looking to move into a larger market, he was hired as a senior account executive at Sinclair Broadcasting’s WBFF-TV FOX 45 in Baltimore, Maryland.

His next calling was print media, moving to the Times-Mirrors Pulitzer-winning property, the Baltimore Sun newspaper, where he was an integral part of their new business development team. After two-and-a-half years of print background under his belt, he transitioned to black media by taking a senior account executive position at Career Communication Group’s US Black Engineer and Information and Technology magazine and its sister Hispanic Engineer and Information Technology magazine, as well as the Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference.

McMillan subsequently advanced to positions with Baltimore’s premier black-owned advertising agency, 21st Century Group, as a senior account executive on the statewide Smoking Stops Here campaign. He was an integral part of the re-launch team of the new Heart & Soul magazine, where he served as the East Coast advertising director before taking positions with NSBE, YRB, Upscale and UPTOWN magazines before becoming the director of advertising for Renaissance Media Group’s Monarch Magazine.

The new position of associate publisher of Who’s Who In Black BaltimoreTM has provided McMillan the opportunity to meet some really gifted and talented individuals that he may have never met otherwise. He cannot express the joy derived from presenting the many accomplished individuals of Baltimore who collectively help position the city as second-to-none as a home of black professionals. McMillan is a graduate of Lincoln University of Missouri and worked on his MBA degree with an emphasis on marketing at Webster University in St. Louis.
