Who's Who In GLBT Columbus

It is with great pride and excitement that we bring to you the second edition of Who's Who In GLBT Columbus. Who's Who Publishing's mission is to create and distribute first-class publications that document the significant accomplishments and outstanding achievements of America's diverse citizens and the communities they represent. With this book, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community continues to be well represented and takes a seat next to the well-respected Who's Who In Black and Who's Who In Latino books, both of which started here in Columbus.

Congratulations to all those who are profiled in the book. We want to personally thank each of you for being an inspiration and role model for our youth, as well as our GLBT brothers and sisters who, because of familial relationships, biases at work or geographical isolation, cannot live their lives out, open and proud. This book is truly not so much about its participants, as it is about creating a historical documentation of our community, providing a reference tool to further connect our resources, and an oasis of hope for those looking to not feel so alone. For all of you that appear in these pages, you may never know the impact your participation has on the world around us. Be assured it is vast and great.

Columbus really is the queer Mecca of the Midwest. The fifteenth-largest city in America has one of the largest GLBT populations anywhere. We are engrained into the fabric of this city, living out and proud among our fellow residents. Long-standing community organizations like Equality Ohio, Stonewall Community Center, BRAVO (Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization), Kaleidoscope Youth Center, TransOhio, AIDS Resource Center, Camp Sunrise, The Legacy Fund, Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio and Project Open Hand not only service our community, but also add to our visibility. We have over 85 affirming faiths and houses of worship and dozens of sport and recreation teams and clubs. If that wasn't enough, we also have some 23 GLBT-specific stores, restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
